In the month of April, the Mid-Peninsula Boys & Girls Club has rallied all staff to increase the support to families and members of the community we serve. Besides the ongoing regular check-in phone calls to families and food distribution in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) and Bayshore School, many more services were launched in April.
The partnership with SHFB was expanded to the Dore clubhouse in San Mateo. Along with many community member's help, MPBGC is able to pass out food every Friday from 10:30 to 12:30 and feed families in need.
All of the staff came together in All-Hands meetings to discuss the game plan for overcoming this challenging time together. As soon as schools resumed after Spring Break, Unite Directors worked with school districts and local partners to develop new support systems for members' learning experience. The Youth Developers continued to dedicate themselves and adapted to innovative ways of providing programs and connecting with Club members. For two weeks, all MPBGC's staff worked together to prepare for the launching of Virtual Programs.
